The programme, known as GirlBoss, is designed to empower young women through skills development, entrepreneurship, and income-generating opportunities.

GirlBoss is more than a training programme—it is an investment in confidence, opportunity, and self-reliance, helping young women build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Training Program

The GirlBoss Training Centre was established alongside the CARA Girls Rescue Centre to provide young women and girls from the local community with practical vocational training and opportunities for economic empowerment.

Participants receive training in sewing, tailoring, horticulture, and sustainable food production, helping them develop valuable life skills, build confidence, and create pathways towards greater independence.

Adjacent to the training centre is Kocha Kindergarten, which provides education and care for local children while their mothers participate in training programmes, ensuring that families can benefit together.

The programme is supported by Mary Sherlock in Ireland, who promotes GirlBoss products at local community events and craft markets:

"GirlBoss Cara teaches Maasai girls valuable sewing skills that can help them support themselves and their families. The girls create beautiful aprons, shopping bags, and other handmade items using traditional Maasai Shukas and vibrant African Kitenge fabrics". In Kenya, GirlBoss participants produce a range of practical and affordable products, including reusable cloth nappies, dresses, shoulder bags, aprons, and shopping bags. These products provide valuable income-generating opportunities while helping to meet local community needs.!
