Our Volunteers
Making a Difference Together
Annual Volunteer Programmes:
CARA offers two volunteer trips each year, typically taking place in January and February.
Our January programme is primarily designed for Transition Year students in Ireland, accompanied by adult leaders. The February programme welcomes older students and adults and is scheduled to coincide with school mid-term breaks where possible.
Volunteers work alongside local staff, community members, teachers, and families, gaining first-hand experience of life in Kenya while sharing their own experiences and skills. These connections foster mutual respect, understanding, and friendships that often continue long after the journey has ended.
A volunteer trip with CARA is about more than completing projects. It is an opportunity to build relationships, learn from local communities, and gain a deeper appreciation of the challenges and opportunities that exist in different parts of the world.
Whether painting classrooms, helping to improve community facilities, participating in educational activities, or simply spending time with children and families, volunteers contribute to creating positive experiences that leave lasting memories for everyone involved.
Many volunteers tell us that their time in Kenya changes their perspective, strengthens their appreciation for community, and inspires a lifelong commitment to making a difference.
A Message of Thanks
To every volunteer who has travelled with CARA, volunteered at fundraising events, supported our initiatives, or advocated for our work — thank you.
Your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment help create brighter futures for vulnerable children and strengthen communities both in Kenya and Ireland. Every act of kindness, every hour volunteered, and every contribution made helps us continue our mission.
Together, we are creating lasting change.
Volunteer Experiences
We are incredibly proud of the many volunteers who have chosen to support CARA Projects over the years. Their experiences, reflections, photographs, and videos capture the impact that volunteering can have on both the communities we serve and the volunteers themselves.
We invite you to explore their stories and discover how volunteering with CARA can be a rewarding, life-changing experience.
